Position Summary

Provide organizational coordination reporting to the Assistant to the Director in consultation with department Director, academic specialists, and technical staff including serving as office coordinator for daily operations and special events. Provide programmatic coordination for diverse operational components of a comprehensive program of disability services to students, employees and visitors at MSU including maintenance of confidential records encompassing student, financial, administrative, personnel, and medical. Interact with faculty, staff, state and federal agencies and community partners to ensure effective operation and reporting for grants and services.

Develop materials and initiatives that enhance volunteer and donor communications/relations. Assist in maintenance of internal data and recognition efforts related to donors and funders specific to the RCPD. Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures that lead to effective management of programmatic efforts, equipment, financial resources and personnel subsequently maintaining compliance with university, state and federal regulations. Guide staffing decisions in response to programmatic needs including supervision, training and hiring/evaluation of student employees. Serve as resource person on departmental/university policies and procedures including representing the RCPD in planning processes and meetings. Assist with financial processes including reconciling purchases, uploading documentation and initiating payments in EBS. Assist in routing and responding to inquiries on disability matters, assist with fulfillment of services for persons with temporary disabilities. Serve as coordinater of the RCPD alternative testing services including partnership with the MSU Testing Center, faculty and specialists to ensure systems, assistants, and materials are in place for effective operation of this program. Other duties as assigned.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that normally acquired through the first two or three years of college, such as an Associate’s degree in a business-related field; 1 to 3 years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office information systems, financial and program reports and use of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, experience and knowledge pertaining to persons with disabilities in higher education and related legislation, extensive competency in data management via Microsoft Office; web applications and business payroll and accounting systems. Strong oral and written communications, and proven project management skills.
