Job Summary

The Food Pantry Student Employees will be responsible for general set up and preparation to ensure the pantry is stocked and operational for distribution days. Student employees will assist the coordinator with training volunteers for pantry support. Food Pantry Student Employees serve as the ambassadors for the campus community to encourage and promote assistance via established marketing channels for students in need.

Responsibilities
  • Provide general front desk support including greet students.
  • Orienting new students on the pantry process and guidelines, fill out eligibility forms, inspect identification, maintain files, and schedule appointments.
  • Assist students visiting the pantry via shopping assistance.
  • Provide carts and other necessary accommodations like delivery to their car, loading etc.
  • Prepare emergency boxes with non-perishable items in specified quantities, assist shelf stocking team, and help keep stock area and pantry area clean.
  • Ensure all equipment and the facilities remain in good working order; schedule maintenance/repairs as needed.
  • Assist with physical set up for each food distribution day.
  • Support management of distribution through assistance and coordination of volunteers.
  • Create an environment of warmth, inclusion and respect through excellence in service provided to students while maintaining discretion at all times.
  • Assist with food procurement documentation.
  • Maintain a sanitary work environment in preparation for visits from students, and compliance representatives such as health inspectors.
  • Attend training and community meetings as approved by supervisor.
  • Assume additional duties as necessary or as assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
  • Must have a Federal Work Study award.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits at Georgia Gwinnett College.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.
  • Must be good conduct standing with the Office of Student Integrity and maintain good conduct standing for the duration of employment.
  • Student must be proficient on Windows based PC's and skilled in Microsoft Office.
  • Good customer services skills with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to details.
  • Willingness to learn new skills to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to build relationships and work with volunteers, and community members.
  • Strong language and communication skills (written and oral).

Position requires local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus.
