Job Summary

The Medical Assistant is responsible for back office duties that includes, but is not limited to: taking vital signs, assisting the medical provider with procedures, performing lab procedures, communicating with patients and escorting them to exam rooms, cataloging and forecasting supplies, and filing confidential medical records. This position will also be responsible for some front office duties to include patient scheduling and triaging phone calls.

  • Record patient history and personal information
  • Measure vital signs and assist Nurse Practitioner or Physician
  • Perform basic clinical laboratory tests and maintain lab equipment
  • Assist with administrative duties that include planning and coordinating medical-related activities
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High School or GED
  • Must have current Medical Assistant certification
  • Must maintain annual certification requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as Medical Assistant in an office or hospital environment
  • Excellent patient communication skills and a history of exceptional customer service
  • Candidate must have proficiency in HIPPA practices and experience with confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with medical data processing
Conditions of Employment

Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
