The nationally-ranked, NASPAA accredited School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver seeks an engaging part-time Instructor (.50 FTE) to teach master’s level students in public administration, starting fall of 2021. Expected part-time teaching load is four courses over the academic year in person and online (ideally 2 in one semester, 2 in another). The job would also include second readerships of MPA capstone projects each term, including summer, and 5% leadership/service activities (typically on a SPA committee.) There may be summer teaching opportunities available as well.

Position Emphasis:

Successful candidates will have the ability to teach the following courses in person and online: Introduction to Public Administration, Organizational Management and Behavior, Pubic Service Leadership and Ethics, and/or Local Government Management.

  • Salary and Benefits:

    The hiring salary (or budgeted rate) for this part-time position has been established at $26,000

    The above salary rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting.

    This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Applicants must have; a PhD in Public Affairs, Public Administraion, Public Policy, or a directly related field, proven teaching effectiveness in a Masters of Public Administration program and, proven ability to teach online classes is also required.


    Preferred Qualifications: 

    Experience teaching for the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs.

    Designing and teaching courses within the Canvas LMS is preferred.
