Job Description Summary
Plans and conducts basic experiments to meet research project objectives, with close supervision. Assists in performing laboratory experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development. Daily management of laboratory tool, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables. Closely collaborates with Senior Research Specialists and Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental/clinical work set ups in accordance to established protocols.

Job Description

The person who fills this position will perform studies to develop new mRNA-LNP vaccines, tissue targeting strategies and CRISPR-Cas9 therapy. Will produce nucleoside-modified-mRNA encoding immunogens from SARS-CoV-2 & Influenza strains with pandemic potential. The person will aid in mice immunization experiments and obtaining specimens to analyze immune responses trough ELISA and neutralization assays, and flow cytometry. The person will be responsible of cell cultures maintenance, so prior experience with tissue culture work is preferred. Must have the background and the willing to learn new techniques involving molecular biology, virology, immunology, targeting and bioinformatics. The ability to follow existing protocols & methods, and the ability to develop new ones is expected. Outstanding interpersonal interaction skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, problem recognition and solving, and organizational skills required. If recently graduated, undergrad research experience it is a must and must have some laboratory experience working with molecular biology techniques (cloning, DNA & RNA isolation, PCR, protein purification).

Duties:

1) Produce nucleoside-modified mRNA-LNP vaccines

2) Analyze B and T cell immune responses (primarily Research Specialist B)

3) Immunize mice and collect tissue specimens

4) Maintain complete and accurate lab notes

5) Maintain cell lines

6) Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

*Position is contingent upon funding.

Qualifications:

Research Specialist A: Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Must have some laboratory experience working with molecular biology techniques. Must be willing to work with small laboratory animals. Prior experience with tissue culture work is preferred.

Research Specialist B: Bachelor's Degree and 1 - 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Must have some laboratory experience working with molecular biology techniques. Must be willing to work with small laboratory animals. Prior experience with tissue culture work is preferred.
