The Head Men's Golf Coach will be responsible for facilitating the development, both academically and athletically, of every Golf student-athlete in an effort to graduate them as champions. Additionally, this candidate will work closely with the Men's Golf Sport Administrator and Athletic Director to continually assess and elevate the program's status.
This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.
Follow all compliance guidelines as dictated by the NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Miami University.
Coordinate the recruitment of prospective student/athletes, which includes, but is not limited to; preparing recruiting schedules, evaluating talent, making recruiting visits, conducting official & unofficial campus recruiting visits, and processing accepted student/athletes within the guidelines of the NCAA & Mid-American Conference.
Coordinate, track, and fiscally be responsible for the program defined budget.
Monitor (along with the team's Academic Coordinator) the student/athlete academic progress to ensure eligibility is being met and degree progress is being made.
Schedule all competitive tournaments.
Coordinate the organization and execution of team practice sessions, pre-tournament qualifying, and pre and post competitive tournament preparation and analysis.
Coordinate all team travel and other administrative duties.
Market the program through public speaking assignments and community service projects.
Engage the Miami Golf donors, alumni and fans through organized fundraising and stewardship efforts.
Work with Human Performance and Wellness to develop programs suitable for the student-athletes while ensuring the physical and mental health of all student-athletes is being monitored.
Attend mandatory departmental and head coaches' meetings.
Other duties as assigned by the Sport Administrator or Athletic Director.
Bachelor's degree; Playing or coaching golf experience at Division I, II, or III level; Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with prospective student/athletes, current student-athletes, staff and University personnel, and alumni; Strong organizational skills to manage and lead a Division I athletic program; Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and promote an inclusive work environment; A commitment to responsibly adhering to all the policies, rules and regulations of Miami University, the Mid-American Conference and the NCAA; Knowledge of NCAA policies and regulations.
Division I College Golf Head Coaching Experience or 2-3 years of experience as a Division I Assistant Coach; Master's degree.
