Job Details

The Department of Biology at the University of Maryland, College Park, seeks applicants for a professional track lecturer position. Responsibilities include teaching two lecture courses each semester, supervision of teaching assistants in the lecture courses, participation in the development of active-learning approaches to teaching, and undergraduate academic advising. The assigned lecture courses will be BSCI170 Principles of Molecular and Cellular Biology and BSCI330 Cell Biology and Physiology. A Ph.D. in biological sciences or a closely related field, with an expertise in cell biology, is required. Candidates must have substantial teaching experience at the college level. Experience with active-engagement teaching methods in large lecture courses is strongly desired. Successful candidates will bring evidence-based and active-teaching approaches to the Biological Sciences curriculum. The expected start date is no later than January 2022.

Lecturers are 9-month appointments and carry a full benefit package. Lecturer positions can be renewed annually, based on both performance and funding continuity.
