13-Jul-2021 Close All Job SummaryThe Apartment Leasing Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month, position that is responsible for a wide range of activities crafted to support residents who reside in, and staff who provide support to Graduate and Family Housing in the department of Residence Life. The primary purpose of this position is to co-develop, provide support for the community center operations and leasing processes in Graduate and Family Housing. The position will also support StarRez database management operations, ensuring data integrity, performing regular data quality checks, cataloging timely notes, and operating web applications. This position will offer hospitality to students, faculty, staff, and other guests, maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment as professional representatives of the campus and department.

  • Manage apartment assignment procedures and communications utilizing StarRez management software and other procedures ensuring timely and efficient communication of information to future and current residents as related to specific leasing needs and compliance.
  • Maintain timely and adequate notes within StarRez regarding all activities (resident communications, apartment moves, pets, preferences, exceptions, etc.) and other relevant information to ensure communication within Residence Life and other campus partners.
  • Manage process to distribute waitlist and apartment move communications to residents.
  • Maintain regular interaction with facilities, environmental services, dining, occupancy management, and other key university partners.
  • Orient new residents to lease and housing policies.
  • Management of roommate agreements, mediation, and partnering on apartment change processes.
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of a residential environment.
  • Support the management and operation of community center.
  • Manage space reservations for Graduate and Family Housing spaces.
  • Provide oversight and recommendations related to website content and communication ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide administrative support to Assistant Director and other members of the Professional staff in Graduate and Family Housing as needed.

Human Resource Management
  • Serve as a resource, mentor, and support to student staffing the Community Center desk to coach them to become effective student leaders.
  • Manages community center customer service calls and communication expectations.
  • Support recruitment, hiring, and training processes for student and professional staff and actively seek opportunities for inclusive practice in all facets of human resource development.
  • Facilitate Residence Life communication efforts across all community staff positions.
  • Participate in Residence Life committees and working groups to provide insight related to needs of residents and staff in Graduate and Family housing.

Fiscal Management
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with Student Affairs Finance and Business Offices for support in financial procedures and processes.
  • Serve as back up and supporting for collecting and logging Graduate and Family Housing rent checks and other payments.
  • Actively supervise, assess, and adjust rates and other information for all assigned resident accounts.

Student Conduct and Staff Referrals
  • Serve as first point of contact for escalated residents and community members.
  • Serve as a student conduct hearing officer for departmental and university level violations and pursue opportunities for student learning within community impact.
  • Interpret and enforce graduate and family housing and university policy and regulations and seek proactive approaches to communicating with students.
  • Utilize Maxient database for student conduct, crisis, and students of concern.

Emergency Response
  • Identify students of concern in community and facilitate connection with university resources as appropriate.
  • Uphold all departmental and university crisis response policies and procedures.
What We Can OfferThe hiring pay range is $38,000 to $44,000.   • At least 2+ years of experience directly related to the work assignment.
  • Job appropriate education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

What We Would Like You To Have
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in education, business administration, communication, public administration, or other related field.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience with demonstrated excellence in customer service related to creative and impromptu problem solving in occupancy management, residence life, or fast-paced hospitality industry.
