Under the supervision of Assistant Director of Maintenance, provides administration, support, and daily operations of the card and key access systems and maintenance of all locks on campus. Provides general technical and clerical support in the department of Facilities and Campus Services.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responding to card reading lock work orders, replacing malfunctioning locks, and performing minor repairs. Troubleshooting online doors remotely, and dispatching CMC Maintenance and/or outside vendors when necessary. Inputting and adjusting door, elevator, and gate scheduling and overseeing warranty work.
- Responding to metal key lock work orders, scheduling repair, and documenting what the technician completed. Maintain metal key documentation (keying hierarchy, key stamping, specific key cabinet locations).
- Process staff/faculty key purchases and notify the appropriate person upon delivery.
- Coordinating with CMC Maintenance for annual lock preventive maintenance of all locks on campus.
- Quality control, testing, and organizing the locks and parts inventory. Maintain hardware inventory documentation. Suggest when additional parts are needed and report issues that arise during testing.
- Assist with vendor proposal completion: scheduling, pre-installation preparation of card reading hardware, oversight as needed during the project, warranty follow-up or any outstanding issues. Maintain proposal/warranty documentation (including dates of installation and notes about the project).
- Schedule online and offline doors weekly & daily for classes, events, summer conferences, and holiday closures. This requires integrating information from EMS with e-mails, work orders, and schedules from other sources. Be able to anticipate potential problems and seek out information.
- Handle most card access requests. Learn the access approval procedure. Maintain records of access requests. Audit locks as needed.
- Assist with yearly staff/faculty key inventories and card reactivations.
- Lead the ID card segment of student check-in and check-out for each semester and summer residents. Work with the front desk to stay up-to-date with early arrival, late-staying, and housing changes for each of the above periods so access (keys and cards access) complies with changes.
- Inventory Residence Hall metal keys after each semester and the summer (according to procedure), reordering and invoicing as needed, and prepare key packets.
- Work together with supervisor on drafting and distributing card, key, and lock-related communication.
- Summer Conferencing keys, cards, and scheduling needs. Review key and card inventory after each conference, create replacement cards, rekey and order replacement keys, and double check scheduling needs.
- Escalate requests and issues to supervisor as needed, and when appropriate.
- Keep supervisor apprised of the overall status of Access Systems and major projects, milestones.
- Attend scheduled meetings between FACS & DOS, participate in relevant discussions.

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor’s degree or some college course is preferred.
Two to three years of office experience preferably working in a facilities department.
A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required. A valid driver’s license is required to drive College-owned vehicles and the ability to be insured under the College’s authorized driver’s policy.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.
Individual must have the ability to work well as a team player in a fast-paced environment without close supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
Experience and training with Lenel magstripe and RFID readers, and the two Lenel software programs: System Administrator & Alarm Monitoring strongly preferred.
Experience and training with Onity Integra database management software strongly preferred.
Experience and training with Multi-card preferred.
Individual must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, push, pull, stoop, twist, stretch, lift up to 50 pounds from ground to waist level without assistance, and be able to work on feet for prolonged periods of time.

Hours: The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday Overtime, holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division. This is a 12-month position.
Classification and Status: This is a regular full-time, 12-month, non-exempt level, benefits-eligible position.
