Assistant Professor, Communication (tenure track) Governors State University (University Park, IL) is a minority serving institution inviting applications for a tenure track position as an assistant professor of communication beginning the Fall 2022 semester. We seek a communication teacher-scholar who is committed to a culture of diversity and inclusiveness to complement existing faculty strengths. The area of specialty for this position is organizational communication with a social scientific research approach. This position will include teaching responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate level, including research methods, sections of the basic public speaking course each year, and contribute to the core courses, such as junior and senior seminar. Successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to develop new courses. We are particularly interested in courses with foci on non-profits, social justice, and diversity and inclusion. Candidates should be proficient in their teaching ability and show evidence of the potential for a strong record of scholarship. Candidates should have completed their Ph.D. in Communication or related field by August 15, 2022. The Communication Program at Governors State University offers an undergraduate (B.A.) degree with concentrations in Human Communication and Strategic Communication. We also offer a graduate M.A.) degree in Communication, Media, and Performance. Our faculty are dedicated to advancing the teaching, research, and service missions of the university.
