Job Summary:

The part-time advisor will provide academic advising, along with making necessary referrals to new and current students over all academic programs. Part-time advisors will advise students in all phases of academic and career planning, including program and course information, scheduling, registration, transfer requirements, and articulation agreements. Part-time advisor will also work closely with New Student Orientation and provide support through coordination of materials, logistics of the programs, and assisting students with their transition to DMACC.

Essential Functions:

Inform and advise prospective and current students in all phases of education planning, college services, and community resources. Assist with the coordination, organization, and logistics of on campus new student orientation sessions for students. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree. Knowledge of current college educational and student services procedures and practices. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to prepare and deliver classroom presentations. Knowledge of current software applications

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree in educational administration, student personnel, counseling, or related field. Knowledge of DMACC educational and student services procedures and practices. Experience within an education institution.
