Nature of WorkThis is a part-time position for work between 20-25 hours per week at the rank of Professional Research Assistant (PRA) at the Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH), Department of Community and Behavioral Health, mHealth Impact Laboratory.

The mHealth Impact Laboratory was established in 2013 as a service center in the Community and Behavioral Health Department to facilitate public health research and applied service using technology-based tools and strategies including but not limited to the use of mobile applications, text messaging, social media, mobile sensors and chatbots to facilitate healthy behavior and illness self-management.

The PRA in the mHealth Impact Lab works to implement research and project activities, and is specifically responsible for implementation of research activities such as development, submission and tracking of institutional review board materials, recruitment and enrollment of research study participants, as well as data collection, management and analyses using qualitative and quantitative methods.

The Colorado School of Public Health is a collaborative endeavor involving the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz), Colorado State University (CSU), and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). The Colorado School of Public Health is the first and only accredited school of public health in the Rocky Mountain Region, attracting top tier faculty and students from across the country, and providing vital contributions towards ensuring our region’s health and wellbeing. Collaboratively formed in 2008 by CU Denver, CSU and UNC, the Colorado School of Public Health provides training, innovative research and community service to actively address public health issues including chronic disease, access to healthcare, environmental threats, emerging infectious diseases, and costly injuries.

Supervision ReceivedThe PRA will be supervised by Sheana Bull, Director of the mHealth Impact Lab.

Supervision ExercisedThe PRA has no supervisory responsibilities.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Preparation of materials for approval by the Institutional Review Board
  • Implementation of participant recruitment and data collection for research and program evaluation activities
  • Maintenance of study and program evaluation databases
  • Conducting database management and data analyses with data management and analytic specialists
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong capacity to work independently and problem solve to reach research and program evaluation goals
  • Skilled in recruitment of diverse participants for research and program evaluation
  • Must be adept at taking initiative to identify and propose solutions to facilitate efficiency and effectiveness in meeting research and program evaluation goals
  • Must be able to manage activities on a number of projects simultaneously
  • Strong track record of working effectively with people regardless of gender, race, sexual identity or ability
  • Must have a strong knowledge of current and emerging strategies to improve health using technology
  • Should be able to successfully implement, track and document all aspects of a research project or program evaluation
  • Salary and BenefitsThe salary / salary range for this position has been established at $55,000 for a full-time position.

    The above salary rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting.

    Qualifications
    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications

    An undergraduate degree in public health, social science, or biomedical science or the equivalent or at least three years’ experience in the implementation of health research and program evaluation implementation activities.

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to meet remotely via zoom with collaborators who are not located in Denver  
  • Preferred Qualifications

    A Master’s Degree in Public Health with at least three years’ experience in research and program evaluation on projects that explore the use of mobile technologies such as phones and tablets for the delivery of interventions to improve health behavior and illness self-management.
