Workplace Learning Connection (WLC) Office Associate will be responsible for providing, under limited supervision, day-to-day support for the internal and external customers of WLC.

  • Answer telephone calls on a multi-line system and provide information on Workplace Learning Connection services and procedures.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, lists, and other documents to support team needs.
  • Prepare, package, and distribute a variety of written materials to support activities and needs of the team.
  • Input data and support database maintenance and functions.
  • Receive and greet visitors to Workplace Learning Connection.
  • Prepare purchase orders and requisitions for program purchases and supplies.
  • Prepare letters, minutes, reports and other related materials, as requested.
  • Coordinate group meetings from reservations through distribution of minutes.
  • Attend meetings, conferences and workshops, as appropriate.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

  • Able and willing to represent Kirkwood Community College and Workplace Learning Connection in the most positive manner with students, businesses, school districts & personnel, and the community.

  • Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise judgment when making decisions.
  • Able to access, input and retrieve information from a computer, operate standard office machines, and type at an acceptable level.
  • Able to express oneself clearly and effectively in written and oral communication, requesting clarification when needed.
  • Prepare purchase orders and billing requests forms using a basic computer aided accounting system and/or spreadsheet.\
  • Able to work under varying conditions, i.e. frequent interruption, solitude, under time pressure.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.

    Sedentary to light work. Constant (67-100%) sitting in an office, as well as talking on the telephone and in person, hearing and viewing computer screen and other types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) standing, walking, grasping and repetitive motion. Occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds. May travel to other campus facilities, community agencies or businesses.


    High school diploma or equivalency required. Any combination of secretarial/clerical and/or post-high school secretarial training equivalent to three years’ full-time experience OR an appropriate Associate degree. Must have at least one year computer experience and know or be willing to learn program, such as Microsoft Word, Excel.
