Summary

The Associate Director will be responsible for advancing the Tulane Health Equity Research Learning Collaborative (HER-LC) activities and leading the development of various events and outputs. This entails: 1) Working with senior leadership across our Administrative, Research, Convenings, and Communications Teams and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to shape a vision for the collaborative’s work and thought leadership and depth on crosscutting health equity issues to develop the HER-LC frameworks and approaches. 2) Recruiting new members and organizations to the network and establishing community action coalitions, which can be geography-based or based on topical areas, as well as a research collaborative that matches communities or systems with researchers and funding opportunities. The Director will optimize relationships by proactively building and cultivating trust and strengthening stakeholder relationships through ongoing engagement with key decision makers, collaborators, current and potential funders, consultants, partners, and stakeholders to promote HER-LC’s work and our outcomes-driven commitments. 3) Organizing consensus workshops and managing entries from solicitation of commissioned papers. 4) Managing the distribution of challenge and demonstration grants to partners, as well as development and management of the collaborative’s grant-making compendium and case studies that best illustrate the ways grantmaking organizations prioritize and develop processes for health equity funding and advocacy work. 5)Supervising the data collection and evaluation efforts aimed at understanding the state of the science on HE research methods and methodologies and funder priorities. This includes management of any relevant IRB applications or packages. 6) Leading the development and implementation of dissemination efforts, including our webinar series and podcast, as well as newsletter and other dissemination mechanisms.

7) Managing the collaborative annual review process, including tracking and reporting on organizational priorities, key performance indicators, and strategic planning anticipated outcomes. 8) Supporting hiring of staff, students, and consultants and supervising their work.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (DrPH, PhD, EdD, JD, etc.) in public health, policy, communications or related field AND at least 3 years of proven leadership and management experience across organizations
  • OR
  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree and at least 7 years of management and leadership experience in public administration, public affairs, or related field.
