Summary

The Medical Research Specialist will conduct laboratory experiments in studies of the genetics of aging in the Genomics & Biostatistics Core using state-of-the-art methods (e.g. next-generation sequencing (NGS), qPCR, PCR, Sanger sequencing, analysis of DNA and RNA samples with Bioanalyzer and Fluorometer). The Medical Research Specialist will also be expected to archive NGS data, send results from experiments to investigators, keep a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording data, keep track of expenditures and purchases, carry out routine laboratory procedures such as equipment maintenance and stocking of reagents and samples for analyses.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years' laboratory research experience

OR

• Master's Degree

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in next-generation sequencing is highly desired
• Experience with DNA and RNA isolation, PCR and qPCR
