Your opportunity:

The Strategic Research Development Officer will support the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing’s research community to advance the Faculty of Nursing’s and the University of Toronto’s strategic research administration activities. The position will work in collaboration with the Division of the Vice-President Research & Innovation (VPRI).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and overseeing activities that enhance and expand research funding activity and effectiveness
  • Advising faculty on funding application strategies
  • Identifying, developing and executing strategies for research and development collaborations
  • Providing detailed information to faculty and administrative staff on completing and submitting research applications
  • Developing plans that support proposal development strategies
  • Researching and recommending new opportunities for externalcollaborations and partnerships
  • Researching and analyzing potential research awards and prizes and recommending academics for nomination
  • Liaising with academic units and stakeholders to support research funding initiatives

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in health sciences, nursing or social sciences
  • Minimum five years' experience in a health sciences research environment, preferably in a university or other large organization
  • Progressively responsible experience working directly with stakeholders on initiatives of strategic importance
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex groups
  • Experience working with national and international funding agencies, i.e. Tri-Agencies, National Institutes, etc,
  • Solid experience developing and implementing strategic plans in support of large scale research initiatives in line with organizational priorities and goals
  • Proven ability to successfully liaise , build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail; strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
