Job Description:

Dean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Strategic Writing for Managers during the fall semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.

We are seeking an adjunct instructor for ENG 332: Strategic Writing for Managers. ENG 332 is a 3-credit class. The adjunct pay rate is $3,200 /section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The school of liberal arts provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi.

This course will focus on written communication in the professional workplace. It will focus on topics such as context, purpose, audience, style, organization, format, technology, results, and strategies for persuasion when examining the development of typical workplace messages. In addition to writing shorter assignments, a substantial formal report that incorporates data analysis and support for conclusions or recommendations is required. Prerequisite: C- or better in ENG 112 and junior or senior standing, or permission of the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Fulfills core upper-division requirement.

There are two ENG 332 sections available. They are scheduled to meet:

• Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 2:30 to 3:20 pm
• Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 3:35 to 4:25 pm

Requirements:

• A Master's degree in a related discipline area is required;
• A PhD preferred. College teaching experience preferred;
• Experience teaching third and fourth-year undergraduates as well as online;
• Strong computer skills, the ability to access the Internet, the college's online resources and website and a willingness to be responsive to students via digital tools is required;
• Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required;
• The successful candidate will possess expertise in learner-centered teaching; use of technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy and the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles;

• COVID-19 Vaccination, required.
