Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in related field. One year of experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Performs semi-complex administrative and supervisory program work for SHSU Accepted Students and Bearkat Orientation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Plans and implements accepted student programs. Coordinates and oversees Accepted Student Mentor program. Responsible for collaborating with other offices to assist with programming not limited to: Accepted Student send-off events, Parent/Family Zoom Series, Saturdays @ SAM and other recruitment activities that help students and their families transition to SHSU. Answers questions and provides guidance to students and their families regarding different program offerings. Provides departmental or University information to students, departments, and staff. Prepares and reviews reports on the effectiveness of program activities. Works with students and parents on their transition to Sam Houston State University to include but not limited to: working with students on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), completing financial aid file, assisting students with registration, and Texas Success Initiative (TSI). Responsible for technology needs related to business function. Maintains technology needs of the office from software use to overseeing social media platforms and website building. Updates and provides recommendations to office policies, reports, and procedures. May be responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and participating in special projects. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to supervise business functions. Communicates with other University departments, personnel, and other agencies.
