Organizational Unit Overview:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSDI) offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. There are presently over 200 students with declared majors within the department. The department operates the on-campus ECU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic. This is a full-service speech and hearing clinic offering a variety of services in speech-language pathology and audiology. The clinic provides 80-100 appointments per week consisting of diagnostic and treatment sessions in speech-language pathology and audiology. The department is CAA-accredited and offers programs leading to BS, MS, AuD, and PhD degrees.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Allied Health Sciences, is housed in a state-of-the-art building surrounded by the Health Sciences Library, College of Nursing, Brody School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine and Vidant Medical Center.

Job Duties :

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Allied Health Sciences at East Carolina University (ECU) invites applications for a full time, fixed-term, 12-month faculty at the title of Senior Teaching Instructor, or Teaching Assistant Professor. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to, on-campus teaching of undergraduate and/or graduate students in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and annual reporting to ASHA and/or other accrediting bodies regarding the SLP program. The applicant will also be expected to maintain service to the department, university, and profession. The applicant may also be responsible for directing the admissions program for graduate Speech Language Pathology students. At the discretion of the Department Chair, secondary duties may include, but are not limited to, advisement for SLP graduate students, clinic instruction and providing services in the on-campus clinic, which is continuous through university breaks.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology or Related Field
Three (3) years of graduate and/or undergraduate teaching at the University level
Three (3) years of experience in an administrative or leadership role in a SLP program at the University level.
North Carolina Speech Language Pathology license (or eligible for license)
CCC-SLP (or eligible for certification)
Recent clinical experience in Speech Language Pathology

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

North Carolina Speech Language Pathology license (or eligible for license)
CCC-SLP (or eligible for certification)

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Experience in supervising clinical SLP students in speech therapy and evaluations.
Prior experience in clinical research.
