Clinical Research Nurse I, Division of Infectious Diseases Georgetown University Medical Center

Clinical Research Nurse I, Division of Infectious Diseases - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Clinical Research Nurse I provides direct clinical and research services to clinical trial subjects participating in Infectious Diseases studies, manages and coordinates complex COVID-19 studies in accordance with established protocols and guidelines, monitors and screens patients , and administers investigational therapies for all clinical trials. Reporting to the Division Chief, the Clinical Research Nurse I has duties that include but are not limited to:

Patient Care
  • Coordinate all aspects of clinical trial, including patient recruitment, patient screening and follow-up
  • Administer and monitor investigational therapies for HIV/AIDS & COVID-19 clinical trials
  • Directly provide professional nursing care to clinical trial subjects
  • Perform examinations
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Enter clinical trial patients into and update information in OnCore System
  • Follow established standards and practices

  • Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information
  • Post patient test and exam results
  • Complete study documentation including source documents, care report forms and queries
  • Interface with pharmacy regarding clinical trial drugs

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in a clinical research and/or public health research
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practices to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to a myriad of issues related to HIV infection and COVID-19
  • Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to multiple demands
  • Sensitivity to the confidential nature of the job
  • Experience in research protocols and quality assurance

Preferred qualifications
  • 1 year of outpatient experience
  • Experience in a University medical setting
