Description
OVERVIEW

The Department of Health Systems Administration is accepting applications for an educator-line faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Competitive applicants will have distinguished scholarly work and professional achievements in one or more of the following areas: organizational leadership, quality and safety, operations, planning and marketing, law and ethics, data science, population health analytics, and data visualization.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of 11 core faculty with collective expertise in population health management, health policy, epidemiology, healthcare finance and economics, health services research, emergency preparedness, public health, global health, health equity, and healthcare consulting. The Department offers an undergraduate degree in Health Care Management and Policy and a graduate degree in Health Systems Administration. Both programs are fully-accredited and emphasize: a population health approach in how services are organized, delivered and financed; a systems thinking, interdisciplinary approach to health policy and health systems administration; and a commitment to cultivate leaders who will make transformational differences in the health of the communities they serve - particular the poor and those who have been historically marginalized.

The department is a focal point for population health research and teaching at Georgetown University Medical Center and the university more broadly. Strong opportunities for research and practitioner collaboration exist with MedStar Health, a $6B not-for-profit health system, which includes MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, nine additional hospitals, and a continuum of related businesses in the Baltimore/Washington region.

NEW INITIATIVES

As a core faculty member, the incumbent promises to be a key contributor to a number of exciting initiatives that will deepen the university's commitment to improve the human condition. As one of the inaugural departments in the future Georgetown University School of Health, the successful candidate will join the department during the planning and development phase. The work will occur in tandem with the establishment of the Georgetown University Racial Justice Institute, which includes health and healthcare as a core pillar.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in health services research, health services administration, public health, or a related field. Teaching experience is required. Applicants should be qualified to teach in both degree programs and prepared to teach selected graduate courses virtually. Board certification in healthcare management or other related specialty areas is strongly recommended. Experience with CAHME accreditation and/or broader accreditation processes is highly desired. A cover letter and two letters of recommendation are required.
