Description
The Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies, Department of Professional Nursing Practice seeks a full-time educator track faculty to serve as Program Director for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program. The successful candidate is expected to have prior experience in an academic nursing administrative role and will be administratively responsible for the BSN program. The Program Director will have a teaching workload and provide mentoring and guidance to students and faculty. Preferred areas of clinical and didactic experience include medical-surgical, public health or psychiatric-mental health nursing.

Responsibilities include:
  • Administrative oversight for the day-to-day activities related to the BSN program
  • Didactic and clinical instruction within content area of expertise
  • Active and sustained engagement in research and scholarly activities
  • Mentoring support of junior faculty
  • Faculty advisor to BSN and MS-CNL students
  • Participation in curriculum development, program review and evaluation, accreditation activities and annual reporting reports to various external bodies.
  • Engagement in departmental activities, scholarship, service, and mission supporting initiatives.
  • Active engagement with other programs within the school and university
  • Service on doctoral committees as content expert, project mentor or chair


The Department is seeking a doctorally prepared faculty member committed to student formation, who is engaged in nursing education within a pre-licensure BSN, MS-CNL, and doctoral nursing student population. The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills with demonstrated ability to serve as a strong role model for students and faculty. Current eligibility to obtain an RN license in the District of Columbia is necessary. Academic rank at the Associate or Full Professor preferred. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have a program of scholarly inquiry with noteworthy contributions to the

profession via peer-reviewed published papers, research engagement, and other dissemination efforts.

The NHS Department of Professional Nursing Practice is situated in an innovative, multidisciplinary school, which also includes four additional academic departments: Advanced Nursing Practice, Health Systems Administration, Human Science, and International Health. Outstanding resources support faculty research, collaboration, and teaching, and include the O'Neill Family Foundation Clinical Simulation Center, the Office of Research Support and Administration, and the Discovery Center, which is a teaching and research laboratory.
