The Design Studio Architecture and Engineering Lead assists the Director for Design Studio with administration of the program and facilitates the technical work in Design Studio. Responsibilities include support of on-boarding process for annual projects; administration of all tooling and environments (cloud services, source control, collaboration software); management of IT equipment inventory; monitor and track tooling and environment spending and budget; development and maintenance of custom software to support Design Studio operations; serve as a technical resource and advisor for student teams (review student code and designs); supervision of daily operation of the Design Studio student teams; evaluate tools/technologies and make recommendations; and support planning/execution of annual Design Studio showcase and related events.
The ideal candidate would have significant industry experience in software development to require minimal onboarding and development, but we are open to entry-level candidates.
Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related STEM field plus one (1) year of experience (including academic) with agile software development in software engineering or related field. Experience with application development efforts and demonstrating attention to detail and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage/prioritize tasks. Evidence of excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to network and build relationships with community and institutional partners. Highly proficient in relevant software development tools and methodologies such as C#, Swift, Android, Git, Azure, ASP.NET, SQL Server, R, and Python.
Preferred qualifications include: Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related STEM field. Experience working with students or mentoring. Experience working with faculty in an institutional research environment. Demonstrated ability to design solutions to abstract problems using software. Experience in a startup environment. Scrum Alliance certifications such as CSM, CSPO, CSD, etc.
