Work Schedule:

8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday

Successful candidates for this position are expected to work in the state of Illinois.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of routine difficulty by providing support developing and implementing the emergency management program. Work is distinguished by the ability to collaborate and interact with internal stakeholders. Immediate supervision is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Associates degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years experience in an emergency management or risk management field or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Working skill in the use of the Incident Command Systems, Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program.

Working skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher

Working skill presenting and discussing ideas and concepts to a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of technical understanding.

Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

Working skills in verbal and written communication.

Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.

Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Bachelors degree in a related field.

Essential Duties:

Utilizing the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP), assist in the development and delivery of ongoing Emergency Operations Plan exercises. Assist in the development and delivery of After-Action Reports (AAR) from real world events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as exercises.

Supports the development and implementation of College wide and department specific business continuity plans. May work with different departments to support and provide guidance and resources in assisting various individuals with writing continuity plans.

Assists in the continued improvement and implementation of the College-wide Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Participates in regular planning meetings providing guidance and support of the EOP, supports the Senior Director of Emergency Management in Plan maintenance and supports the Ready Campus designation from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

Supports and provides assistance in delivering tactical level support during emergencies or disasters, including supporting on-going mitigation measures to COVID-19, as well as any other mitigation or safety measures put into place during an emergency or disaster.

Represents the Emergency Management Department on various committees throughout the College, as directed by the Sr. Director of Emergency Management. Provides general consultation for members of the College concerning emergency management and business continuity needs, as appropriate and as directed by the Senior Director of Emergency

Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications

Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws

Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.

Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.

Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality
