Position Summary:

The holder of this position will be responsible for coordinating, identifying, prioritizing, gathering, writing, editing, assigning assets, developing strategies, disseminating and promoting news and information about the University of Georgia’s ongoing academic research, with an emphasis on the societal benefits of research results. This individual works with deans, faculty and communications colleagues to develop written content that synthesizes, translates and clearly explains research into language that is understandable to lay audiences. This individual also collaborates with colleagues across the Division of Marketing & Communications to develop priorities, strategies and supporting visual assets to maximize the audience reach of research news and information – directly through web-based platforms, indirectly through social and earned media, and through paid marketing initiatives. Although research writing is the primary responsibility of this position, this individual also will be expected to develop and write other content as determined for publications and platforms managed by the Division, including, but not limited to, Georgia Magazine.

Works independently to gather, write, and disseminate news and information about the University of Georgia’s ongoing academic research, with an emphasis on the societal benefits of research results. Works collaboratively with colleagues across the Division of Marketing & Communications and the campus to coordinate, prioritize, assign assets and develop strategies to promote the university’s academic research.
