Summary: 

The Software Support Analyst will provide technical leadership, guidance, and end user support as it relates to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Student Information Systems (SIS). Serves as a technical resource regarding institutional databases, internal and external facing web/portal presence, reporting and working collaboratively with other departments to provide end user support and to provide business solutions for client needs.  

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Provides technical expertise in administrative systems and ERP functional support, sharing system administration responsibilities for administrative systems with other Information Technology Services (ITS) members 
  • Engages in business process review of internal departments and their workflow to address their needs 
  • Administers backend databases associated with ERP, SIS, and other administrative systems 
  • Troubleshoots and resolves database, software applications, reporting and web/portal related issues 
  • Tests, evaluates, and recommends software for use on campus and for management review 
  • Creates and maintains customized scripts, reports, and configuration modifications 
  • Authors technical documents and web-content for the purpose of providing support guidelines to ITS staff and to provide training and self-help to end users 
  • Manages Mobile apps and mobile integrations 
  • Manages vendor relationships by serving as a liaison between BVU offices and software vendors 
  • Contribute to BVU’s team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned 
  • Assist the BVU community in supporting the overall campus mission, vision, and goals as set forth by the strategic plan 
  •  

    Education and Experience: 

  • Four-year degree in computer related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience including a minimum of two years of experience in a system support analyst role; preferably in a university setting. 
  • Certifications in the following areas are preferred: 
  • Database administration 
  • Software development    
  •  

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work well under pressure 
  • Perform job duties with utmost integrity and adherence to institutional policy 
  • Knowledge of database design, reporting tools, and web application development 
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation 
  • Ability to maintain a reliable and methodical approach to the support and documentation of complex software applications 
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively across all levels of an organization to support and resolve IT related processes and issues
