Create and coordinate engagement opportunities and offer value to members of the Denison family to broaden and deepen their relationship with the college, increases public awareness of Denison’s mission, achievements, and priorities, and helps maximize philanthropic support for institutional priorities. Direct, develop, coordinate, promote, maintain, and evaluate constituent engagement strategies, focusing primarily on alumni and family engagement and volunteer involvement with on-campus event experiences.

· Provide the leadership and strategic direction, marketing strategy, content/programming management, project management and volunteer-management abilities necessary to deliver engagement opportunities for alumni and families on campus and to increase attendance at events. This includes oversite of the Reunion experience, and management and execution of Big Red Weekend, Commencement, Induction, and other on-campus events. · Amplify the office of Alumni and Family Engagement’s reach and enhance working relationships and volunteer collaboration efforts with other offices on campus, especially with the Knowlton Center for Career Exploration, academic departments, the Annual Fund, Arts and Athletics. Coordinate with these offices to deepen partnerships and jointly influence and improve the experiences that alumni and families have when interacting with any of these offices or being on campus. · Partner with the Advancement Communications and Marketing team to develop the marketing strategy and plans for event advertising and recruitment, the content and timelines for promoting major alumni events taking place on campus, and the tactics for increasing the number of attendees at each event. · Lead the strategy and create the protocols and process to execute a 1st year reunion for our most recent graduates. Utilize and organize volunteers accordingly and set the stage for a successful transition from the 1st to 5th Reunion volunteer efforts. · Evolve and expand the reunion program to include a year-long programming focus which offers multiple engagement opportunities for reunion classes prior to their Reunion. · Utilize data, track appropriate metrics, and provide on-going reports associated with Reunion and on-campus events. Track ROI of all event expenses and investments. · Serve as the Liaison to Parents and Families and coordinate with the First-Year office in the execution of family focused events and communications. · Serve, when appropriate, on University governance committees unrelated to Alumni and Family Engagement work. · Provide supervision to student staff as needed. · Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree. A minimum five (5) years of professional experience in a higher education setting (alumni/parent relations, development, career center, admissions, student life), volunteer management role, or transferable work experience. Demonstrated and successful experience in event planning and volunteer management. Ability to think strategically and to utilize metrics in analyzing programs and events.

Positive attitude, superb organizational skills, affinity towards solving problems and finding efficient ways to achieve goals. Strong belief in the fundamental value of a residential, liberal arts education, and can show evidence of achievement in a team culture. Flexibility to travel and work an unconventional schedule, including evenings/weekends. Excellent verbal, written communications, effective interpersonal and social skills, and have strong ability to connect with a variety of diverse constituents. High competency with electronic technology (e.g., Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, CRM tools, and online social networking sites including Facebook and LinkedIn). Possess a high level of fiscal responsibility. Current, valid driver’s license and must be insurable under Denison’s liability insurance policy.

This role will involve walking throughout campus, and between the main campus and the alumni office. Must be able to lift boxes of approximately 15 – 25 pounds, and the ability to stand for periods of time.

This position will be acutely focused on transforming the experience that alumni and families have when they come to campus for Big Red Weekend, Commencement, Reunion, or other campus events and activities. This role will also serve as the primary liaison to parents and families and will work closely with the First Year Office, Student Development, and Athletics to create opportunities to engage both students and parents with alumni throughout the year.

The final candidate will undergo a background check as a conditional offer of employment.
