Job Description In this position the candidate can expect to organize programs and activities in accordance with the MIDE mission and goals. Furthermore, the selected candidate will develop new programs, policies, or initiatives that support the strategic direction of the Institute. Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure sponsor projects and milestones are achieved will be vital for success.

Duties:

    Oversee and guide the processes for successful project completion including tracking contract and grant deliverables to submission for multiple programsApplies operational research practices and technical knowledge to coordinate with other closely related teams/areas to improve efficiencyPossesses formal supervisory responsibilities to oversee a team of five individuals supporting research programs May perform some of the work supervised/managedAdminister and supervise the acquisition, processing, and maintenance of research materials, equipment, and spaceProvide research assistance to faculty, staff, students, and other external organizations through technical expertise, management skills, or other skillsets as neededCoordinates resources to ensure program execution and resolution of research concernsUse personal experiences, knowledge, and training to assess, identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problemsAssist the Director of Research in execution of critical daily operations in the areas of logistics, information systems, security, and equipment for MIDE all in direct support of active research projectsContinuously monitor research equipment needs and actively seek out solutions using a network of websites, contacts, and personal knowledge

Skills/Experience:

  • Microsoft Office products
  • Database development and management (Microsoft Access or other)
  • Experience in rapidly changing direction to mitigate issues daily
  • Ability to track a variety of issues including everything from security related issues to machine shop work orders and all the daily items in between
  • Dedication and willingness to get your “hands dirty” as needed in relocating equipment, supplies, or furniture to meet research needs as fast as humanly possible
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least three years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Degrees of interest include physics, engineering, business administration

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Higher Educational Leadership and Organizations, Human and Organizational Development, Business, Physics, or Engineering. Prior experience in a university setting a plus. The preferred candidate will be a proactive problem solver with superb planning, coordination, and leadership skills. Additionally, a successful candidate will be able to communicate with stakeholders from diverse functional areas and convey complex data in non-technical terms.

Salary

$47,476/annum - $49,500/annum
