The Department of Nursing at Texas A&M University – Central Texas (TAMUCT) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position. Rank will be dependent on qualifications and experience. Strong teaching skills and experience with undergraduates is required. The candidate must possess excellent web-based teaching skills, a commitment to service learning and scholarship, outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. A doctoral degree in Nursing or related field is required. Job summary/Basic Function:
Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution.
Other responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the areas of nursing care for the family, elderly, and communities; leadership, pathophysiology, nursing research, health assessment, current issues, nursing theory, informatics, and leadership. In addition, the candidate will have responsibilities for conducting research, advising students, course and program assessment, serving on departmental and university committees, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
Doctorate in Nursing or related field
Licensed to practice Registered Nursing
Preferred qualifications:
Masters of Science in Nursing
Graduate certificate in Nursing Education
NLN Certification for Nurse Educators (CNE)
2 years of teaching experience at the baccalaureate level
Teaching experience at the graduate level
Experience in distance education and technology enhanced learning
Description of Job Responsibility/Duty:
70% - Teach a variety of undergraduate level web-based classes in the Nursing program. Course assignment will depend on experience. Write syllabi for the courses using the approved format of the College of Arts and Sciences. Meet with students enrolled in their classes when students need additional assistance with class material and assignments. Teach twenty-four workload credits each academic year. Summer semester teaching is negotiated on an as needed basis.
15% - Pursue a research agenda and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Mentor/collaborate with students on independent research projects and prepare students to present their research. Attend and/or present at conferences to strengthen research and teaching knowledge, clinical competence, and maintain credentials.
15% - Carry out additional requirements of nursing faculty including:
Conduct learning outcome measures on all courses taught to assist in maintaining accreditation
Attend university and college faculty meetings
Serve on university committees as requested or assigned by Provost, Dean, or Department Chair
Provide academic advising to prospective and current students.
Participate in service learning projects as available.
Participate in recruitment events as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience in teaching and research in nursing.
Show an expertise in and commitment to undergraduate nursing education.
Exhibit enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and employing innovative teaching methods.
Develop collegial relationships with other faculty
Able to establish research collaborations with other faculty.
Experience in program assessment
