The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.

Nature of Work

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a Clinical Instructor/Senior Clinical Instructor to work in the Department of Psychiatry, Behavioral Health and Wellness Program (BHWP).  BHWP is a multi-disciplinary Center of Excellence for public policy, research, training, and clinical care. We offer training and technical assistance on tobacco cessation treatment, overall health and wellness across the lifespan, and Motivational Interviewing. We work with communities, healthcare facilities, and public health and governmental agencies to promote health and wellness in priority populations. We also offer training and consultation to healthcare providers, administrators, and peer advocates. This position is classified in a clinical designation due to the part time nature of the role ( 0.1 FTE).

Examples of Work Performed

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Training, consultation, and program development including development of training materials
  • Marketing and community relationship building
  • Focus groups, key informant interviews, and assistance in data collection
 

Salary Offered or Salary Range

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at

Clinical Instructor: $90,000 to $105,000.

Senior Clinical Instructor:  $90,000 to $105,000.

 

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications  

Clinical Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related research experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or related field
  • PhD and/or PsyD
  • At least 3 years of experience in counseling or coaching in health and wellness field
  • Advanced skills and training in Motivational Interviewing and Tobacco Cessation
  • Previous experience in training, education, or facilitation of health and behavior change, including vaccine hesitancy
  • National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP)
Senior Clinical Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related research experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or related field
  • PhD and/or PsyD
  • At least 3 years of experience in counseling or coaching in health and wellness field
  • Advanced skills and training in Motivational Interviewing and Tobacco Cessation
  • Previous experience in training, education, or facilitation of health and behavior change, including vaccine hesitancy
  • National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP)
Preferred Qualifications (applicable at all ranks)

  • Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT)
  • Experience with Motivational Interviewing coaching/supervision/teaching
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge, experience, and ability to manage complex information and computer systems.
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations to faculty/staff, healthcare providers, administrators, and community partners
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population of faculty/staff, healthcare providers, administrators at all levels including outside organizations and the public.
  • A demonstrated ability to organize and complete complex projects and to work under tight deadlines while utilizing problem-solving and critical thinking skills when necessary
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of a team, handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Knows and applies best practices in diversity and inclusion practices or has knowledge and understands cultural differences.
