General Summary of Position:

UMass Lowell Theatre Arts Program seeks an adjunct for Fall 2021 Play Production Course. Seeking a skilled individual to teach in a growing program. The Play Production Course is designed to give students intensive experience in theatrical production. Play Production is an introductory level stagecraft course. Students will learn to use the tools and techniques of technical theatre. In addition to an overview of the major areas of theatrical design, students will gain proficiency in scene shop tools, hanging and focusing lights, sewing machines, and scene painting.

Class meets Tuesdays/ Thursdays 3:30- 4:45 PM.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • MFA in technical direction (MFA in scenic, lighting or sound design considered provided a demonstration of experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in two or more of the following: set construction, lighting, sound, rigging, welding
  • Excellent teaching, organizational and management skills

This is a part-time, non-benefited, Union of Adjunct Faculty, Local 1596, UAW position.
