The Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, University Health Network/Sinai Health System (UHN/SHS) at the University of Toronto is seeking a full-time, permanent Academic Neurologist with a focus on Stroke Neurology. The candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate or Full Professor with the position description of Clinician in Quality and Innovation or Clinician Investigator at the University of Toronto. The effective start date is at a mutually agreed upon date.

The successful candidate will hold a MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). They will have specific additional training such as a Master’s degree or equivalent. Furthermore, the candidate must have completed a Stroke Fellowship program and have established expertise in clinical care in Stroke.

For applicants being considered for appointment as a Clinician Investigator, scholarly excellence will be assessed by the presence of research grants, publications in leading journals, invited presentations at significant conferences, awards, accolades, and other related accomplishments. For Clinician in Quality and Innovation, excellence will be assessed by advanced training in quality improvement or equivalent, successful quality improvement initiatives, evidence of practice and/or equipment innovations, and invitations to significant conferences, and accolades.

The successful candidate will be part the clinical stroke service of the Krembil Stroke & Neurovascular Program for inpatient and ambulatory care. Emphasis for this position will be placed on innovation and integrated models of care that align with the Department’s strategic plan. The candidate will be expected to participate in the Neurovascular Unit (NVU) inpatient care, in our ambulatory Stroke Prevention Services and specialty clinics, as well as in the on-call pool for hyperacute stroke care (will be shared among seven stroke neurologists). As well, the candidate will be responsible for leading aspects of quality assurance/quality improvement work and research studies to support the clinical and research program. The candidate will also participate in activities supporting the ongoing development and implementation of aspects of the system of care for Stroke regionally and provincially.

Teaching duties will include post graduate residents and undergraduate medial students as per Division of Neurology requirements. This includes contributing to the provision of, and program development for, education of residents, students, and stroke Fellows rotating on the NVU Stroke Service.

The successful candidate will participate in all clinical and academic aspects of the UHN/SHS Neuroscience Program. Academic appointment will be within the Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
