The Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, University Health Network/Sinai Health System (UHN/SHS) at the University of Toronto is seeking two Academic Neurologist(s) with a focus on general neurology with an interest in women’s neurology. The candidate(s) must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor at the University of Toronto with a position description of Clinician Teacher, Clinician Investigator or Clinician in Quality & Innovation. The effective start date is a mutually agreed upon date.

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). They will have established expertise in clinical care in general neurology. Additional clinical expertise in the neurological disorders of women (including obstetrics, stroke, headache) would be encouraged. They will have specific additional training such as a Master’s degree or equivalent. The successful candidate will develop General Neurology services for inpatient and ambulatory care consults and be based at Sinai Health Systems. Emphasis will be placed on innovation and integrated models of care that align with the Department’s strategic plan. Other duties may include EMG/NCS expertise. Teaching duties will include post graduate residents and undergraduate medical students as per Division of Neurology.

For applicants being considered for appointment as a Clinician Teacher, excellence will be assessed by the presence of scholarly contributions to teaching and education as evidenced by pedagogical innovation, curriculum development, experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and teaching awards. For Clinician Investigator, scholarly excellence will be assessed by the presence of research grants, publications in leading journals, invited presentations at significant conferences, awards, accolades, and other related accomplishments. For Clinician in Quality and Innovation, excellence will be assessed by advanced training in quality improvement or equivalent, successful quality improvement initiatives, evidence of practice and/or equipment innovations, and invitations to significant conferences, and accolades.

The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of the UHN/SHS Neuroscience Program. They will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of clinical research at UHN/SHS and the University of Toronto, if desired. Academic appointment will be in the Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine University of Toronto and salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
