College Overview:

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. The College serves more than 3,200 undergraduate students in 27 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Applied Mathematical Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Position Overview:

Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Visiting faculty are employed by the university to teach or perform research for a limited time. This is a non-tenure track, temporary position. In addition to teaching, service or research may be expected.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Duties include teaching day/evening classes, graduate/undergraduate courses, face-to-face/online courses, scholarly activities, and service to the department, college and university. The successful candidate will work with students in and out of the classroom, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical and computer engineering, and conduct active research in an area of electrical and computer engineering that also supports and promotes the department’s strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate student research. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in professional activities. Other responsibilities will include serving on departmental, college and university committees, and service activities appropriate to rank and appointment.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).

Experience Preferred:

The candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field, or must complete this degree by August 1, 2021.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

The candidate with research in an area of electrical and computer engineering and teaching experience in lower division and upper division engineering courses will be given preference. Experience in a multidisciplinary department with ABET accredited Engineering programs is preferred. The successful candidate will be required to teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering and computer engineering classroom and laboratory courses. Previous university teaching experience and an ability to support the department’s general engineering and physics service courses is preferred.
