Hussian College Studio School - Los Angeles is currently hiring qualified candidates for the:  Musical Theatre Performance IV (Ensemble Performance) Instructor

All Faculty report to the Department Chair. Faculty works closely with the school's administrators, academic advisers and administrative staff. Successful candidates are high-energy leaders with a passion for teaching and a collaborative style that promotes integrity, empowers vision, displays flexibility and inspires creativity.

Position Description:  Musical Theatre Performance IV is a course that focuses on the techniques necessary for working with other performers on stage and in the rehearsal room. Repertoire consists of trios, quartets, and larger ensemble pieces from musical theatre, as well as a project in devised content creation. Students discover how to share the performance space with others, adapt their skill as a lead soloist to supporting and ensemble roles, sing while dancing and collaborative content creation. A final showcase is presented at the end of the semester. The successful candidate will be versed and skilled in ensemble-based performance with the ability to teach BFA students.

The following job requirements represent minimum levels of education, experience and competencies/abilities needed to perform this job successfully:

  1.  Candidates should have experience as a professional musical theatre actor or director/choreographer with preferred experience as a swing, dance captain, or understudy at the Broadway or National Tour level. 
  2. . Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years experience as a professional musical theatre actor or director/choreographer with preferred experience as a swing, dance captain, or understudy at the Broadway or National Tour level. 
  3. Strongest consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in both vocal and dance pedagogy to teach the skills of retaining multiple harmony lines, dancing while singing in a production number, and staging/dance notation. 
  4. Candidates with experience in devised theatre and collaborative content creation are encouraged to apply.

This position requires both didactic and lab instruction.

Physical and Mental Requirements: Physical Requirements: This job requires normal physical mobility, including the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Normal hand- eye coordination; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and lift up to 40 pounds, is also required. 

Mental Requirements: This job requires the ability to read, recall, write and understand information. This job also requires the ability to work under moderate pressure and to manage multiple tasks concurrently. 

Environment: This job is normally performed in a clean, well-lighted, heated and cooled office area/classroom
