Nebraska Wesleyan University is seeking a full-time Planned Giving Officer responsible for managing a portfolio of donors, serving as a planned giving resource for colleagues and collaborating on university planned giving marketing, programming and stewardship designed to grow planned giving support for Nebraska Wesleyan University.

DepartmentAdvancementResponsibilities
  • Collaborates on development and implementation of plan designed to inform all university constituents about the advantages of estate and gift planning, including creation of marketing strategies, marketing materials and direct mail.
  • Maintains tracking system, including expectancy database, files, records, and call reports for planned giving donors and donor prospects.
  • Identifies, cultivates and solicits planned giving and major gift donor prospects; conducts a full schedule of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship visits.
  • Collaborates with advancement colleagues regarding appropriate engagement with their assigned planned giving donors.
  • Provides information on planned giving appropriate to the situations of individual donor prospects, prepares individualized solicitation materials and provides technical support.
  • Establishes annual plan, priorities, and objectives for planned giving program.
  • Assures appropriate acknowledgement and stewardship for all current planned giving donors.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of tax issues related to planned giving.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three to five years of fundraising experience including specific experience with planned giving and related tax laws.
  • Strong professional writing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Values collaboration and appreciative inquiry.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders within and outside of the campus community.
  • Must have high degree of accountability and organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to listen to and engage constituents while synthesizing information.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and be responsible for confidential information.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and online video conferencing applications (Zoom).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for travel.
