Montgomery College is currently accepting applications for a possible opening as a part-time faculty member teaching one or two non-credit online courses in Culinary Arts (bread baking and/or cooking local and international dishes) to the Lifelong Learning Institute’s students. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to engage adult learners.
***Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. ***

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach short-term, non-credit fitness courses (see below) via Zoom in an engaging and professional manner. Students are adults of different ages.
- Manage students and the online teaching environment.
- Demonstrate cooking and/or baking techniques, strategies, and process.
- Take attendance each class session.
Cook Like a Chef
Do you enjoy cooking at home? Learn basic skills and tips and tricks to help take your food to another level. Restaurant food is not always a healthier or better option, and when you know the principles behind how to cook and present a dish you will be able to impress your family and friends better than any restaurant would! Take your cooking skills to a next level. In this class you will cover the following topics: Planning a Meal, Sourcing Ingredients, Balancing Flavors, Presentation, Knife Skills; Salads and Dressings; Soup Making; Cooking Perfect Pasta Every time; Getting a Sear, and Sweet Endings— Desserts. This class is presented by a professional chef. You will be able interact, ask questions, and cook along.

Bread Baking 101
What is better than the smell of fresh bread coming out the oven? Fill your house with the enticing smell of fresh baked bread while you fill your mouths with the unbeatable taste of real homemade bread. Learn how to make a variety of breads while learning the basic principles of bread making. Some breads might include: Focaccia and Pizza, Tuscan Wheat Sourdough, Challah, and wholesome quick breads and muffins. The class is presented by a professional chef/baker. You will be able to observe and ask questions.

- Culinary Arts training and three years experience.
- Professional baking and/or cooking experience.
- Teaching or presenting experience.
- Demonstrated experience teaching online is very desirable.
- Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
- Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).
