Position Information: DescriptionThe Department of Psychology at the University of North Dakota (UND) is searching to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Psychology at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 16, 2022, contingent upon availability of funding.  Candidates should have expertise in Psychology & Law or Forensic Psychology and areas that directly align with the goals of UND’s Rural Health and Communities or Big Data Grand Challenges https://und.edu/research/grand-challenges/ such as jury decision making, victim advocacy, forensic interviewing, or statistical modeling.

Housed within the University of North Dakota’s largest college, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Psychology has 16 full-time faculty, approximately 460 undergraduate majors and 190 graduate students with programs in Clinical (APA-accredited), Experimental, and Forensic Psychology.

Duties & Responsibilities
    Teach a mix of online and on campus courses primarily within our graduate Forensic Psychology programs and supervise graduate students. Produce peer-reviewed publications within area of research expertise and seek external grant funds.All faculty are expected to contribute service within the department, college, university, and community.  UND and the College of Arts & Sciences value diverse perspectives and seek applicants who are committed to helping students from underrepresented backgrounds succeed.
The position will carry a 1/2 formal course load for the initial year of appointment; in subsequent years, a formal course load of 2/2 is expected. Course load may be reduced if the candidate brings external support or secures it while in the position.

Required Competencies
    Ability to teach a mix of online and on campus courses primarily within our graduate Forensic Psychology programs.Ability to produce peer-reviewed publications within area of research expertise and seek external grant funds.Effective interpersonal skills, Including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.Ability to work with diverse groups.Ability to supervise graduate students and contribute to service within the department, college, university, and/or community.
Minimum Requirements
  • Earned Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (e.g., social, developmental, cognitive, legal, etc.) or Clinical Psychology by August 15, 2022.
  • Research expertise in psychology & law or forensic psychology.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working collaboratively with interdisciplinary partners.
  • Experience in online teaching.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to teach advanced statistics courses at the graduate level.
Minimum Hiring Salary

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. 

Work Schedule/Start Date

Position is full-time, benefitted and exempt.  Dates of initial contract are August 16, 2022 to May 15, 2023.
