Director of Student Health Center (SHC) and Clinical Faculty Member

Job Description

Operating in a dual capacity as both the Director of the Student Health Center in the Office of the Dean of Students and Clinician Faculty Member within the School of Nursing, the Director is a leader within the DOS Office and Nursing Program in ensuring the physical health and well-being of all Gordon State College students.

Specific Job Duties:

• Provide strategic administrative leadership, clinical care, and supervision of the Gordon State Student Health Center (SHC). 25%

• Administer direct medical care to students including: coordinating intake and obtaining patient histories; performing examinations and recording relevant health and medical information in patient records; developing plans of care; conducting relevant medical tests and prescribing medications; billing insurance plans; and, referring patients to other health care providers and additional care.  25%

• Plan and implement health education and advocacy programming and services relating to general health education and wellness and specific college student health including sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence prevention, and mental wellness. 10%

• Manage the Student Health Center budget and maintain center supply inventory and ensure a clean aseptic work area through the proper disposal of biohazard materials in appropriate containers and by using antibacterial disinfectant solutions to clean equipment and surfaces. 5%

• Serve as the primary contact for and partner with the Student Health Center’s contracted off-site Medical Director. 5%

• Function in the role as nursing faculty thru classroom and clinical instruction which includes: a) supervise Gordon State student nurses placed in the Student Health Center as part of a clinical rotation, b) supervise GSC student nurses in at least one clinical rotation in the acute care setting, and c) attend and participate in Department of Nursing meetings and curriculum development. 30%

Annual Salary: 59,000.00
