Responsibilities

The Center for Advanced Power Systems at The Florida State University (located at 2000 Levy Avenue, Suite 140, Tallahassee, FL 32310) seeks to hire a full-time researcher at the Assistant in Researcher level faculty position. This position aids in the maintenance of a state-of-the-art real-time digital simulation testbed for electrical power systems as well as performing and aiding in the performance of significant team research.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance of a state-of-the art RTDS testbed for EPS.
  • Performing research and developing significant research innovations and improvements on developed research methodologies.
  • Leading a team of peers, grad students and others both within CAPS, FSU, and other consortium members to high functioning facility greatness.
Qualifications
  • Academic Master's degree or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties, with a demonstrated record of achievement in research.
  • Knowledge of Matlab and other fundamental engineering software.
  • Interest in device-level software development and a good understanding of modern computer architectures.
  • Must be able to work on projects restricted by U.S. export control laws.
Preferred
  • Basic knowledge in high voltage engineering and testing (including partial discharge testing) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in C++17 or above, Python and CHDI programming languages is highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of artificial intelligence algorithms desired.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Security clearance is preferred.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

Criminal Background Check
