Lecturer Pool - Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering - College of Chemistry

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the department should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. Some appointments may begin in summer 2021. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Positions may range from part-time to full-time.

Salary commensurate with experience. This position is in a represented bargaining unit.

The vibrant community of CBE is situated within the College of Chemistry, a small college within a large campus, with a connected and collegial feel. The College provides comprehensive student support services including peer tutoring, professional advising, career placement, and dropin counseling. Awardwinning student groups including chapters of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), American Cancer Society (ACS) and Chemical Engineering Car (ChemECar) enhance the student experience, and faculty members mentor students in clubs and teams in biofuels technology, cosmetics formulation, phytoremediation, and research projects.

General Duties
Classroom/laboratory teaching and preparation, managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using Cal's electronic resources for course management.

Basic qualifications: completion of all Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) requirements, or have degree candidate status at the time of application.

Additional qualifications: a Ph.D (or equivalent international degree) is required by the start date.

Preferred qualifications: Prior teaching experience is preferred.
