Position Summary:
Job Summary Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students, the Director of Title IX Compliance serves as the Title IX Coordinator and chairs Susquehanna's behavioral intervention team (CARE). As the Title IX Coordinator, the Director manages response, investigation and resolution of complaints asserting violations of sexual misconduct and gender-based violence. The Director chairs appropriate Title IX committees and works closely with the Office of Human Resources and Athletics on Title IX compliance issues. As the chair of Susquehanna's CARE Team, the Director will provide overall vision, leadership, and administrative direction for behavioral intervention. The Director is an active member of the Student Life Leadership Team, and contributes to the strategic planning and provides leadership for the division of Student Life. Specific Responsibilities
  • Lead institutional efforts to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements related to Title IX. Communicate regularly to campus community about regulation requirements.
  • Review and assess institutional climate related to gender-based violence; working with other university departments both inside and outside of Student Life, provide education around sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and sexual harassment.
  • Oversee all policy related to Title IX and sexual misconduct, updating written policy and websites annually. Regularly review mandated Title IX requirements, keeping other campus colleagues informed of all policy changes.
  • Oversee and conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial reviews and investigations of reported incidents of sexual misconduct and gender-based violence. Provide support and interim measures to students involved in the process.
  • Coordinate the administrative process for all prohibited conduct outlined in Susquehanna University policy and procedures for Title IX sexual harassment and for student community standards of sexual misconduct and gender-based violence. Maintain accurate records in tracking software. Provide semester reports on Title IX incidents. Advise students through conduct process. Communicate decisions to students (and parents when appropriate).
  • Provide regular Title IX training and programming for the faculty, staff and students.
  • Chair the campus behavioral intervention group (CARE team) regarding tracking, supporting, and responding to students of concern. Maintain records of all students of concern.
  • Create and maintain all campus policies and procedures for supporting students of concern, regularly updating policies, report forms and websites.
  • Perform CARE reviews on students needing special intervention, working directly with the Center for Academic Success, Counseling Center and Health Center. Communicate with faculty, staff, and parents as appropriate when coordinating specific support. Provide support for students of concern, including performing wellness checks when requested by other campus community members.

    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesDemonstrate collaborative and transparent leadership style; strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with and advise students, organizations, faculty and staff from all backgrounds and identities; ability to collect and use data to assess initiative effectiveness; outstanding organizational, problem-solving, and program development skills; in-depth, contemporary knowledge of student conduct and community standards and best practices caring for students of concern. EducationMaster’s degree required in higher education administration, educational leadership, counseling, or related field. ExperienceFive years of experience in increasingly advanced and more responsible administrative and supervisory roles in higher education. Additional RequirementsThis position requires occasional night and weekend hours and provides emergency on-call services for sexual misconduct and gender-based violence concerns.
    Physical Demand Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Working conditions are mostly indoor.
