Visiting Assistant Professor in History

The Department of History and Geography at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, visiting assistant professor in history for the 2021/2022 academic year. PhD is required at the time of appointment. Area of concentration is open.

Department-Specific Essential Job Functions

The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester (12 credit hours) in the undergraduate curriculum. The majority of the assignment will support the department’s history core and introductory-level surveys, though it will also include the opportunity to teach specialized undergraduate/graduate courses at upper levels.

The Department of History and Geography includes 15 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate degree programs in history, geography, history education, women’s gender and sexuality studies, and museum studies, as well as graduate programs in history and museum studies.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

An earned Ph.D. in history conferred by a regionally accredited or internationally-recognized institution is required. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with a commitment to transformative education.

Physical Demands:

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
