Position Summary

The Office of Field Education is committed to facilitating meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students, via field placements in community agencies. We actively work to support students in their development as professional social workers, build partnerships with hundreds of community agencies, provide trainings to support the educational experience, and work collaboratively to connect the classroom and field experience.

The Administrative Assistant in the Office of Field Education performs duties under the direction and supervision of the GSSW Field Education Program Manager. This is a full time position in the field office which performs a wide variety of tasks involved in the day to day functioning of the field office as well as the many systems and processes involved in the management of over 800 students in field internships with hundreds of agencies. This position provides front-line support to all GSSW Field Education Programs and provides primary oversight of the student workers employed in the field office. This requires much flexibility in a fast-paced environment, strong communication skills, the ability to think and act independently, and the ability to tend to a great deal of details in an accurate and timely manner. The front line contact with community members, students and agencies also requires strong interpersonal skills. This position is based at the Denver Campus office and provides Field Education support to all GSSW programs including Denver Campus, [email protected], Western Colorado, and Four Corners.

Essential Functions

Field Administration

  • Answer general field practicum-related questions from students, agencies, field supervisors, field liaisons, faculty and staff.
  • Communicate field events, policies and procedures to students, agencies, field supervisors, field liaisons, faculty and staff.
  • Update communication processes and program materials for GSSW field program and community contacts.
  • Maintain the Field Program Portfolio pages, information on GSSW website.


Supervisory Duties: This position may supervisor student or temporary employees.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years related administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or higher.
  • One year supervisory experience.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 5.

Hourly Range
The hourly range for the position is $18.00 - $21.50.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
