Job Summary:

This position is employed through Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa, but will be located in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for prevention, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries and illnesses. The trainer will counsel and educate student athletes. Other administrative duties will include, assisting with the coordination of medical coverage for home and away contest,including scheduling of student and graduate assistant athletic trainers.

Travel is required in performance of this position: Travel will berequired for off campus athletic events that are covered by the AthleticTraining Department. This individual will also travel to meetings andconventions to maintain CEU credit for NATA AND NSCA.

Work schedule will vary according to practice and event schedules. Thesecan change depending on availability of facilities and weather changes.Athletic events will take place after business hours, on weekends, and onholidays.

Environmental Hazards:
Possible exposure to hazardous material, hot and cold, blood borne pathogens. Infectious disease, heat, contact with participants such as on thesidelines of a competition.

Possibility of hot, cold or rainy conditions during athletic events.Noise can also be a factor during athletic events.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry in excess of 100 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger,grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or withoutreasonable accommodations.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Health/Physical Education, Sports Medicine/Kinesiology, Athletic Training
- Post Graduate Athletic Training experience
- Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Board of Certification and/or American Physical Therapy Association prior to hire: Licensed by the state of Oklahoma as an athletic trainer

Skills, Proficiencies, and Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge in OSHA guidelines and universal precautions. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of NCAA Rules and guidelines. Knowledge and understanding of guidelines in the NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook. Extensive knowledge of OSHA guidelines and universal precautions. Must be able to lift in excess of 100 lbs. Extensive amount of time standing per day.
Must be able to deal with heat and changing weather precautions. Knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations. Experience and knowledge of organizing strength programs, especially forinjured student athletes.

Preferred:
- Master's degree in Health/Physical Education, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy
- Experience with Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy
- Experience with aquatic rehabilitation
- Experience with teaching clinical and practice skills in CAHEP approved Athletic Education Program
- Certification by NASM as PES, or by NSCA as CSCS
