Job Details

St. Norbert College (www.snc.edu) is seeking several adjunct instructors for AY 21-22 in Teacher Education. Specifically, we are searching for instructors to teach the following face-to-face courses:

 

EDUC 125: Foundations of U.S. Education

T-Th 10:00-11:30 a.m. (August - December 2021)

T-Th noon-1:30 p.m. (August - December 2021)

This course addresses the development of schools as institutions from historical, philosophical, political and sociological perspectives.

 

EDUC 226: Social Studies Methods

M-W-F 8:30-9:30 a.m. (Jan - May 2022)

This course focuses on methods for teaching social studies in the elementary/middle grades through a constructivist theoretical and philosophical lens. 

 

EDUC 232: Adolescents with Exceptionalities

M-W-F noon-1:00 p.m. (Jan - May 2022)

This course focuses on learners who have low or high incidence exceptionalities. Candidates learn about universal design, strategies to differentiate instruction, and assistive/adaptive technologies.

 

EDUC 254: Instructional Methods for Adolescents 

T-Th 10:00-11:30 a.m. (Jan - May 2022)

This course explores the underpinnings of diverse student populations and strategies for developing culturally relevant/sustaining instructional practices.

 

EDUC 292: History & Philosophy of Early Childhood Education Programs

Tuesdays 8:00-10:50 a.m. (August - December 2021)

This course introduces teacher candidates to various historical, philosophical, and theoretical bases for early childhood programs.

 

EDUC 310: English as a Second Language Methods (2 credits)

Tuesdays 8:20-9:50 a.m. (Jan - May 2022)

This course addresses approaches to teaching English language learners, including second language acquisition, learner variables, assessment, and lesson planning.

 

EDUC 330: Early Adolescent Non-Academic Needs

M-W-F 1:10-2:10 p.m. (Jan - May 2022)

This course addresses the non-academic needs and issues of the middle school student while exploring issues of identity, classroom learning community, conflict resolution, and family communication.

 

EDUC 373: The Writing Process

M-W-F 9:40-10:40 a.m. (fall & spring)

This course focuses on writing development, instruction, and assessment through an examination of the social, cognitive, and linguistic perspectives of language development.

 

EDUC 386: Reading Improvement in the Elementary/Middle School

M-W 3:30-5:00 p.m. (Jan - May 2022)

This course focuses on diagnosis, instructional planning, and ongoing evaluation of children’s reading progress through a supervised field experience.

 

SSCI 408: Social Inequalities

T-Th 8:20-9:50 a.m. (August - December 2021)

M-W-F 2:20-3:20 p.m. (Jan - May 2022)

This course supports students in developing a clearer understanding of the types of inequality that exist in society, how inequality operates through the broader social context, and the constraints and opportunities faced by individuals in various positions in society.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Education or closely related field
  • five years experience working in a PK-12 education setting
