Instructor or Assistant Professor - Air Traffic Management - Aerospace/Aviation

Position Information: DescriptionThe Department of Aviation at the University of North Dakota seeks qualified applicants for either a 9-month, non-tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or a 12-month, non-tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Instructor.  Anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2022. 

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Teaching various aviation courses (4/4 course load for Assistant Professors or standard Department teaching load for Instructors) at the undergraduate level.Teaching various air traffic courses, with an emphasis on terminal and enroute radar and non-radar courses.Advising students on academic and career aspirations.Serving on departmental, college and university committees, as assigned.Supervising students conducting scholarly activities.

Opportunities to additionally teach in the Summer may be available.

Required Competencies

Ability to teach and develop a broad array of aviation courses at the undergraduate level.

Minimum Requirements

Master’s Degree in Aviation or Related field to be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor, Bachelor’s Degree to be considered for the rank of Instructor.1 year of professional experience as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC).Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D., Ed.D. or J.D. degree.Evidence of established record of successful, collegiate-level classroom teaching in aviation.

Minimum Hiring SalarySalary is commensurate with education and experience. $72,000 (nine month salary) for an Assistant Professor; or $58,000 (twelve month salary) for an Instructor. Benefits include retirement, health, disability and life insurance plans.
