Job Description:

Dean College's School of Business is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Internship Connections: Creating Your Plan (DCA 200) during the Fall 2021 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds. Adjuncts should be prepared to be flexible. The adjunct faculty member is expected to teach the entire semester face-to-face. However, given changing conditions, the instructor may need to pivot to synchronous online instruction and/or accommodate students who may need to isolate for a period during the course.

We are seeking an adjunct instructor for DCA 200 - Internship Connections. DCA 200 is a 1-credit class that meets for 2 hour/week for one Quarter. The adjunct pay rate is $1,067/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Business program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.

This course is part of Dean College's Dean Career Advantage (DCA), is a holistic approach jointly developed by Academic Affairs and Student Development to assist students in preparing for life at Dean. Students work with their Success & Career Advisor, faculty, and staff to make the most of the college experience so that when they graduate, they have a resume of accomplishments and experiences that will make them as competitive as possible in the job and/or graduate school market. Through a series of career-preparation courses and career-intensive experiences required by every major, combined with co-curricular involvement, students will develop their career mindset - the ability to understand where they are now, see where they want to go next and design and implement a plan to get there.

All instructors will receive a course charter with course objectives and outcomes, as well as the syllabi used by other instructors teaching the same courses in the program. Initial training, as well as on-going support, is available for all DCA 200 instructors from the DCA team.

The course description is as follows:

Internship Connections: Creating Your Plan (DCA 200) is the third in a series of DCA career-preparation courses, and all Dean College students complete it in their sophomore year. In this pre-internship preparation course, students will continue to refine their career objectives and develop and practice the essential skills needed for employment. Students will also research, apply to, and prepare to be successful in their internship, a graduation requirement in all majors. The course also teaches students about other career-experience opportunities available to them through Dean College. Each section meets for 50-minutes per week.

There are 3 sections of DCA 200 available for the first Quarter (September 8-October 22) and 2 sections of DCA available for the second Quarter (October 25-December16) per the below chart. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach.
