Position Summary:New hires for this position will be eligible for a $750 sign-on bonus at the completion of 180 days of employmentPicks up and delivers materials, furniture and equipment to campus buildings and facilities.
Essential Functions:Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and a post-offer pre-employment screening. Please see the physical demands section for additional information.
General Responsibilities:*Picks up and delivers materials, furniture and equipment to varied locations.
*Sets up and removes articles for special events.
*Assists in the general warehousing of equipment, furniture and materials. Provides delivery service, organizes warehousing and monitors all campus storage.
*Schedules and coordinates daily work assignments.
*As requested, fills in during absence of team leader, trash hauler and mail delivery person.
*Works safely and cautiously.
*Maintains sidewalks, roads and parking lots.
*Interacts appropriately with customers, i.e. students, faculty and staff.
Supervises and directs seasonal, student and occasional laborers.
*Assists in snow removal from steps, roads and walkways as assigned.
*Assists Landscape Services as assigned.
Performs associated Facilities Services maintenance work as requested, including but not limited to: grounds maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting.
*Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from team leader and supervisors.
*Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Middlebury College and departmental policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

High school education. Vocational background preferred. On-the-job training. Training in the proper use of equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of safe working and lifting procedures and techniques.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to do the following tasks constantly: walking, standing, material handling (such as grip force of 80 lbs. with one hand to pull heavy loads on a dolly). Must be able to do the following tasks frequently: lift 40-80 lbs.; push and pull up to 50 lbs.; carry 40 80 lbs.; bend, squat and climb stairs. Must be able to do the following tasks occasionally: lift up to 100 lbs.; push up to 110 lbs.; pull up to 190 lbs.; carry up to 100 lbs.; crouch/kneel, twist/turn, reach and balance; use finger to operate controls on power tools or truck; Must be able to do the following tasks on rare occasions: crawl, sit and withstand vibration of hand drills on rare occasions
Organizational skills required. Regular shift hours are Monday through Friday. Ability to work Saturday and Sunday as part of a regular or rotating work shift. Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary. Must have a valid driver’s license, have ability to get a College license, and CDL (or ability to obtain) and good driving skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and be able to respond to a high volume of requests.
Previous delivery/stockroom experience helpful.
