POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Office of Enrollment Management Communications at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Recruitment & Admissions Outreach, Assistant Director position. We are seeking candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 150 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid & Scholarships, University Registrar, Enrollment Management Communications, Enrollment Management Research & Analytics and Enrollment Management Operations.

Functions and Responsibilities:
In conjunction with Director, develops, coordinates, and executes integrated marketing and communication plans, providing strategic and proactive ideas, thoughtful timing, and production assistance as it relates to recruitment and undergraduate admissions. Organize, manage, and prioritize workflows from creative development to product delivery, enforcing a rigorous approval process to maintain university branding standards and quality control. Manage the day‐to‐day operations and personnel. Recruit, train, direct, and supervise staff. Responsible for managing staff performance, including assessing, writing and delivering staff performance evaluations and performance improvement plans. Serve on committees to represent the unit and/or fill in for Director as needed. Build positive relationships with division staff, campus partners, students, and faculty. Develop communication plans in conjunction with the Director for EM Communications and other members of the leadership team. Coordinate the implementation and oversee execution of comprehensive recruitment and admissions communications plan.

 



Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree

3 years of experience in Marketing, Communications, Admissions, or Enrollment Management

Preferred Education and Experience:
• Familiarity with a higher education environment

• Previous experience with CRM software or software that uses conditional merge and filtering functions.

• Understanding of the mission of the University of Tennessee and its audiences.

• Enthusiasm for staying up to date on higher education trends and communication strategies.

• Advanced skills in Excel of data visualization platforms.

• Experience in email marketing, managing web content and analytics and reporting

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills,

• Proficient in Microsoft office (word, excel, powerpoint).

• Solid writing and copy editing skills; knowledge of basic style guides such as AP and Chicago Manual of style. Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.

• Sound knowledge of marketing and communication principles

• Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) systems, as well as basic knowledge of HTML.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; marketing/creative project management experience

• Ability to compile and analyze data, assess and make subsequent recommendations and decisions. Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

• Ability to multitask and think critically.

• Knowledge of social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat

• Excellent copy writing skills for various communication media, print and electronic

• Ability to create multi-faceted marketing communications plans

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to work with Adobe Suite and WordPress is a plus

• Experience working with a project management system (Asana preferable)

• Ability and knowledge of Higher education workflow

• Knowledge and understanding of one or more production disciplines: print, digital, and broadcast (multi-media)

• Sound knowledge of and experience with Slate CRM system
